A Memo from Koolsville

| A Memo from Koolsville (18"x24") This painting is entitled, " A Memo From Koolsville" and is from a larger series, entitled: " Paintings About Painting". This particular series came in to existence as a consequence of this comment below. I was not really trying to hammer on writers here, but really just trying to get the artist into the conversation. There are countless volumes written on art. The prognosticators, pontificators, critics, curators, and art reviewers have been busy, but I'm afraid rather than helping us to understand art, they have only succeeded in helping us understand the art of writing. Kent Bash, 1977 The series explores the realm of painting thru the medium of painting. This painting makes a symbolic connection between hot rods and art, and vise versa. Living in Southern California, the movie, and record industry capital, the home of fantasy architecture, Disneyland, skateboards, surfing, and of hot rod and customs culture, one can only imagine how these influences impregnate a young persons developing matrix. Being mixed up with cars and counter culture for someone living in Southern California, is just part of the West Coast metabolism. This series spans over 30 years, and explores everything from starving artists, competing categories of art, to creation's final showdown with nuclear annihilation. " A Memo From Koolsville" is an open edition print, printed on a heavy duty acid free stock. It measures 18"x24" and is signed by the artist.
