Rod Cult, issue # 1

| Rod Cult, issue # 1 (From the Pulp Art Series) A few years ago, I was moving some boxes when I came across a package containing some art work that I did in high school. Among the pictures was this fictional Hot Rod magazine that I had painted. It cracked me up, and made me laugh. I remember creating hundreds of these fictional magazine covers. Hot rods, science fiction, crime, and comics were my favorite topics. I recall dreaming that maybe one day, I'll be painting covers for such magazines or I'll be creating magazines of my own. I had forgotten about the vitality and crazy irreverent humor of comic art, and the unlimited vision of science fiction. The Rod Cult painting was inspired by this event, and there will be more to come. The Rod Cult painting features a 1927 T-Bucket Roadster with the highly improbable V-9 engine, sporting 5-3 barrel carburetors. Complete with It's proud hot rod monster owner, striking a pose. (oil on canvas 1998)
